A James Turrell Skyspace at Rice University
West Quadrangle east of Alice Pratt Brown Hall
Project Manager: Eleni Barzouka

A generous gift from alumna Suzanne Deal Booth ’77 has allowed Rice University to install a work by celebrated American artist James Turrell. This magnificent installation is a part of the overall campus-wide art program and will consists of a 28' square viewing area, enclosed by a grass berm and covered by an elevated, floating 72'x72' roof, with a 14'x14' oculus. The interior space provides a rich, varied experience of the changing light conditions through the oculus. The installation serves as a music performance space for a limited number of people and opened to the public June 14, 2012
