Huff House Renovations

O’Connor House was recently renamed in honor of alumnus Peter Huff '59 and his wife, Nancy Larson Huff. The Huffs' generous gift to the university’s Centennial Campaign will fund renovations of the house, including a two-story enlargement on the southeast corner that will create more space for alumni gatherings on campus. The renovations will maintain the scale and character of the original structure, while increasing the functionality of the house. The house has been the residence of five Rice Presidents and their families since 1948 and now houses the Office of Alumni Affairs and the Center for Student Professional Development.

• The permit request has been turned in to the City of Houston
• Alumni Affairs offices have moved
• The Center for Student Professional Development began moving November 12th

• The permit request has been turned in to the City of Houston
• Alumni Affairs offices will move beginning Novevmber 4th
• The Center for Student Professional Development move date is still pending

9/29/2009

• The architect is working on finalizing the exterior design of the southern and eastern sides of building
• Interior plans will be submitted to the City of Houston for permit soon
• Construction is anticipated to begin the third week of October
• Project plans went for permit last week
• Elevation details are being finalized
• The office of Alumni Affairs will be relocated the Greenbriar building during construction
• The temporary re-location of the other building occupant is under way
