Campus water leak advisory

Over the past two weeks the campus has experienced several large water leaks. These leaks are attributed to extreme weather; specifically the drought-like conditions over the past few weeks have caused the earth to shift affecting the underground utilities. The Facilities, Engineering and Planning department appreciates your patience as our employees work collaboratively with the City of Houston to correct these issues, in our lines and city lines, as quickly and as efficiently as possible. It is common after a waterline repair for sediment to remain in the line. This will dissipate as the line is utilized. Please be aware that if drought conditions continue, or if the climate drastically changes and it begins to rain, similar effects on the underground utilities will continue.

We would ask for help to report water leaks if they are seen on campus to the Facilities Service Center (fsc@rice.edu or x2485). To report energy waste on campus, please email energywaste@rice.edu.
